The Finance Department is one of the six departments in the Governance and Support sector of Gävle. The operations include financial management, leadership, and follow-up.
The Financial Services unit consists of 14 employees and is responsible for the municipality's financial reporting, the municipality-wide accounting, management and development of financial systems, continuous improvement of financial processes, as well as qualified support and financing advice to operations and municipal companies.

We are now looking for a driven and meticulous Accounting Controller specializing in asset accounting and investment follow-up.
Your Role
In this role, you will be a key person within the Finance Department, responsible for ensuring correct accounting, valuation, and analysis of the municipality's tangible and intangible fixed assets.
You will work closely with the accounting manager, colleagues within Financial Services, as well as sectors and companies throughout the municipality. The assignment also includes ensuring that Gävle municipality complies with applicable accounting rules and providing consultative support and training in asset and investment accounting.
Your Tasks:
- Asset Accounting: Ensure that the asset register is correct and up-to-date, including the activation of new assets and handling of component depreciation.
- Accounts Receivable Management: Be responsible for ongoing work in the asset accounts receivable, such as registering investments, disposals, and write-downs.
- Closing and Analysis: Prepare documentation for monthly, interim, and annual closings and analyze depreciation plans and the value of fixed assets. Accounting for investments in contingency measures.
- Review and Internal Control: Quality assure the classification of investment expenses and ensure that the accounting follows municipal accounting practices.
- Support to Operations: Act as an expert support in matters related to investment projects and accounting.
- Digital Development: Contribute to the work of developing and streamlining project management and time registration through the time and project module in Unit4.
The role can be combined with other areas of responsibility such as finance/internal banking, accounting, or system management/development, depending on background and competence.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone with a bachelor's degree in economics with a focus on accounting and at least three years of experience in qualified accounting work with a focus on asset accounting and investment follow-up. You have excellent knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written, good system skills, and an interest in digital work tools.
The following are meritorious:
- Experience with the financial system Unit4 ERP (Agresso).
- Experience from politically governed organizations.
- Experience in time and project accounting in Unit4.
